Overview

Saturday, August 23, 2025, the Paradise Valley Trail Run returns to the tranquil Paradise Valley Conservation Area, just outside Woodinville, WA. Hosted by Northwest Trail Runs, this event features a Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K, all run on gently rolling forest trails filled with cedar swamp groves, prairie ridges, and scenic winding paths.

🏃‍♀️ Race Experience & Course Highlights

The Half Marathon kicks off at 9:00 AM PDT, followed by the 10K and 5K at 9:30 AM. Each runner on the half completes two loops of the 10K course, offering mostly runnable terrain with moderate elevation gain (1,160 ft total climbing on the half).

Trail variations include wide mainline stretches and narrow scenic single-track, weaving through cedar wetlands and gentle ridges. Aid stations along the loops offer water, electrolyte beverages, snacks, and energy supplies. Parking includes shuttle service from nearby staging areas, and participants are encouraged to follow trail etiquette—dogs are not permitted.

🎯 Why It Stands Out

This boutique trail event combines generous scenery and peaceful ambiance with approachable challenge. With modestly sized fields and careful trail stewardship, it offers a serene race day experience in a conservation setting. The half marathon also counts toward the Northwest Trail Runs Half Marathon Trail Series, adding series value for repeat participants.

The Paradise Valley Trail Run delivers forest tranquility, accessible looping terrain, and a focused trail-running experience in the Woodinville countryside. With moderate elevation, careful organization, and a respectful trail ethos, it’s a perfect fit for runners seeking scenic challenge in a boutique, nature-first event.

Course Description

The trails at Paradise Valley are a mix of wide and narrow, smooth and bumpy, straight and curvy, so the courses offer a good variety and will keep you on your toes. All courses start out the same way, going out the medium-width mainline trail then out the Wetland Plateau Trail, which starts out narrow and eventually widens and joins the Southern Traverse Trail. The course passes the mid-loop aid station for the first time at 1.6 miles then narrows again when it turns onto the swoopy and gradually descending Lloyd bike trail.

At the bottom of Lloyd Trail, the 5k runners continue down and across the Mainline Trail and finish with a tour around the plateau above the start/finish on the Cascara Trail, which starts out relatively straight and then becomes increasingly curvy before rejoining the Mainline Trail for a short return to the finish.

The 10k and half marathon loop continues on back up the gentle slope and back to the aid station at 3.1 miles. The loop then crosses the valley that bisects the area on Southern Traverse Trail before returning to the finish on a combination of twisty single-track and the wide Mainline Trail.

The Half Marathon course is two loops of the 10k course.

The terrain is mostly gently sloping, making for course profiles that are predominantly runnable, with only short steeper slopes.
