Overview

The 13th annual Run For Our Future, led by The Bridge of Storm Lake, unfolds on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in Storm Lake, IA. This charity-focused event supports youth summer programs with options ranging from 5K, 10K, and Youth races to the certified half marathon—now a staple of Storm Lake’s community calendar.

The half marathon starts promptly at 7:00 AM CDT from Storm Lake Marina. Runners begin with a 3-mile stretch on country blacktop, followed by a scenic loop around the lakefront and marina. The course is predominantly flat and paved, with support at 6 water/Gatorade/orange aid stations, musical volunteers, and a lead cyclist to guide pacing. Due to roadwork near the marina, expect minor route adjustments this year.

Runners receive a LD-style long-sleeve shirt, handmade medal, and Bib, with options to run in-person or virtually. Despite not attracting thousands, the race draws around 300 half-marathon finishers, with 5K and 10K fields contributing to a strong mid-size turnout .

Reviewers praise the scenic lakeside setting after an opening slog:

“Charming race that winds most of the way around Storm Lake after a 3-mile opening slog…”

Post-race, join the community celebration at the marina’s finish area, with kid- and youth-fun runs offering family-friendly participation .
