Prepare to get wet at the Redmond’s Rain Run Half Marathon, an event that prides itself on braving the elements to run 13.1 miles in one morning. Don’t run from the rain — run in the rain at the annual Rain Run.
Celebrating its tenth year in 2022, the Rain Run takes runners through a fast and scenic chip-timed out-and-back course starting at Redmond’s Marymoor Park. From there runners race through the Sammamish River Trail, turning around at the halfway point and running back along the same route. Look carefully — you may see eagles, deer, and other wildlife on the race route.
Be sure to stay after the race for the post-run party, featuring food (did we mention cupcakes?) and random prize draws on top of the age group and overall awards. Every finisher gets a huge sparkly finisher medal as well as a Rain Run umbrella, so you’ll be thinking about the time you kicked butt in the rain long after the Rain Run is over.
As the date was chosen for the highest likelihood of rain, race organizers urge runners to come ready for the rain: wicking fabrics that won’t lose their shape or chafe, a light rainproof jacket, and of course a hat to keep the rain out of your face. While strollers are welcome on the course as long as the stroller is controlled, dogs should be left at home.
The Rain Run is limited to 750 runners, so register early for your chance to run in the rain that makes the Pacific Northwest famous.

Located 16 miles east of Seattle, Redmond experiences mild temperatures in the spring months ranging between 46ºF and 72ºF.
On race day (April 16), the average low is 45ºF and the average high is 67ºF.
