Seven Bridges Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K

Sunday, October 20, 2024 • Chattanooga, TN • Course Map

The wide, flowing waters of the Tennessee River will be runners’ constant companion for most of the race course at the Seven Bridges Marathon, Four Bridges Half Marathon and Two Bridges 5K, which make their 13th annual running here among the hills of the Cumberland Plateau and the Appalachian Mountains of southern Tennessee.

Runners in the half marathon will cross four of the race’s six bridges, along a course that starts and finishes in Coolidge Park across the river from downtown Chattanooga, which lies adjacent to Renaissance Park along River Street.

From there, runners start the race with a bridge crossing in the early going, making their way across the Market Street Bridge over into the city’s downtown entertainment district right after leaving the starting line.

The trek across the bridge is followed by a pair of turns that lead runners to Riverfront Parkway, passing by the world-famous Tennessee Aquarium along the way as well as AT&T Field, the home of minor league baseball’s Chattanooga Lookouts, a double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Next, they make their way across the John Ross Bridge to the north side of the river and weave their way through Renaissance Park and Coolidge Park, where runners will be able to see the riverboat tours and private boats sailing along the river.

This section is followed by a third bridge, this time the Veterans Bridge, before reaching the middle section of the course: a brief stretch along Riverside Drive before heading on the Tennessee Riverwalk, a paved multi-use path that takes runners from downtown Chattanooga all the way to the Chickamauga Dam. The half marathon course doesn’t take runners all the way to the dam, but it does take runners to the turnaround point near South Chickamauga Creek.

This is followed by coasting down the Riverwalk and crossing the Walnut Street Bridge just before crossing the finish line back at Coolidge Park.
