Saturday, November 21, 2020 – Friday, November 27, 2020 • New Braunfels, TX • Course Map

Note: The 2020 race is a virtual event. Registration details are included below.

Set for its 11th annual running along the region of the state known as the Texas Hill Country, which lies in the southern part of the state around San Antonio and Austin, New Braunfels’ Prettiest Race in Texas, benefiting Chosen Care, will feature a 13.1-mile half marathon that helps raise both funds and awareness of the need for the estimated 147 million orphaned children around the world in need of adoptive homes and families.

The half marathon starts along River Road, and follows a point-to-point course that takes them south along the Guadalupe River all the way into Gruene, which lies just to the northwest of downtown New Braunfels.

Founded in the mid-1840s by German farmers, the town itself is on the National Register of Historic Places thanks to its turn-of-the-century architecture and the old-style Texas and western look and style of its buildings, shops and city streets.

From there, runners in both races follow the route as it winds along the river all the way to Edwards Boulevard, where they turn left and head into town as it winds along the river. They’ll make a turn on Edwards Boulevard before turning onto River Road, which winds northward following the path of the Guadalupe River that flows through New Braunfels and Gruene.

The race organizers add that the course — as you might expect for a race that takes place in the Texas Hill Country — is hilly in its early miles, particularly the first three miles of the race.

More than 1,500 runners crossed the finish line in both races combined in 2016, including more than 900 finishers in the half marathon alone.
