Saturday, October 26, 2019 • Fort Worth, TX • Course Map
Set for its third annual running here along the running, walking and biking trails that wind along the West Fork of the Trinity River just outside downtown Fort Worth, the Halloween Half will feature a flat, fast course with plenty of winding twists and turns along stretches of the Fort Worth Mountain Bikers’ Association mountain biking trails.
The half marathon follows a point-to-point course that starts at the Gateway Ball Park, which lies just off East 1st Street. From there, the course heads out onto the trails that wind along the river, which stretches more than 700 miles from its headwaters in nearby Archer County all the way to Houston.
Once on the trails, runners make their way west as the river curves north, through Harmon Field Park and toward Riverside Park, which they’ll be able to see from across the river as they run an out-and-back stretch on the trails between East Belknap Street and the interstate.
After that stretch, runners continue south along the river, continuing along the paved trails for the rest of the course before crossing the finish line at Trinity Park.
Runners can expect plentiful trees along the trails, especially along the stretches closest to Gateway Park, and flat terrain throughout — the course starts at about 532 feet above sea level and never rises higher than 564 feet.
You’ll have 4 1/2 hours to finish the half marathon — the race cutoff time will be 12:00 PM.
