California > Ayala Park Marathon, Half Marathon & 50-Mile Run
Saturday, May 8, 2010
One of a series of road and trail running race events hosted in and around the Los Angeles area throughout the year by the Southern California-based Charlie Alewine Racing group, Chino's Ayala Park Marathon, Half Marathon & 50-mile run takes runners on a multiple-loop course on the trails, roads and sidewalks around the city's Ruben S. Ayala Park, which lies just south of town at the intersection of Central and Edison Avenues.
Runners in this small race event -- the 2009 running of the event saw 25 runners cross the finish line in all races combined -- will get to know the course very well, as the race follows a 1.8-mile loop along the park's sidewalks and grassy trails, which those running the half marathon will run seven times around. The organizers plan to offer one aid station at the start & finish line area, so runners are encouraged to bring along their own water bottles with them during the race.
Like the many other running events hosted by Charlie Alewine Racing, the Ayala Park Half Marathon is one of a series of races that also includes January's California Gold Rush Marathon & Half Marathon, the Run Deo Run 45K & Half Marathon in March, and the Marina's Long Beach Marina Marathon & Half Marathon in April.
