California > Berkeley Trail Adventure Half Marathon, 10K, 35K & 50K
Berkeley, CA  •  Saturday, September 29, 2012  •  Course Map

Set in the natural beauty of Tilden Regional Park in Berkeley, California is the annual Berkeley Trail Adventure half marathon race. The Norther California city has been long known for being one of the most progressive cities in the country and its numerous culinary and cultural attractors. The city is also known for its gorgeous city parks that feature lakes, hiking trails, public gardens and popular city landmarks.

The Berkeley Trail Adventure half marathon race is held along the Lake Anza Trail in the popular Tilden Park; one of the city's largest recreational areas. Runners who take on the course cannot only enjoy the natural surroundings of Tilden Park, but views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Mt. Tamalpais. In addition to the half marathon, multiple races are held during the day long event and include a 35K and a 50K for runners looking for more of a challenge. The course is generally flat and features numerous shaded trail areas that keep the warm California heat at bay as racers navigate their way through the course.

The 2012 race is scheduled to start promptly at 9:00 AM in the Orchard Picnic area near Lake Anza. After a straight route along the shore of Lake Anza the route begins to wind in and out of the Lake Anza trails. The forgiving course will then take runners to some wider roads that allows runners to spread out before heading back to the narrow trails later on in the course. This area of the race takes runners along the park's golf course and up alone the Redwood trail to the Redwood area and Tower areas of the area, where runners can enjoy some of the most beautifully landscapes areas of Tilden Park.

Runners will get to enjoy numerous areas of this expansive city park and after entering the Lupine area of the course they will enjoy view's of the park's natural Wildcat Creek. After tackling a few gentle inclines and enjoying a straight path through a shaded area of the course, runners will head to one of the most popular areas of the route, the Seaview portion of the course.

While in the Seaview area of the park, runners can take in some of the natural beauty of the area and enjoy gorgeous views before they loop around and head to the narrow peak trails and back to where they first started. A flat run back along the park's golf course and back to the Lake Anza trail where the race first began will bring runners back to Orchard Picnic and through the course's finish line.
