California > Wine Vine Run Half Marathon & 5K
Paso Robles, CA  •  Sunday, September 16, 2012  •  Course Map

Runners will get the chance to run along the vineyards and country roads of this state's legendary wine country at the autumn running of the Wine Vine Run Half Marathon & 5K, which will take runners on an out-and-back route through the hills and vineyards along central California's coastal mountain range.

Known for its wine growing as well as its numerous hot springs resorts, the area is located within driving distance of both William Randolph Hearst's San Simeon castle and Morrow Bay, a fishing town that lies just to the south of the city.

The race is set to make its fourth annual running in 2012, when it will move its race date up from November to September. At the 2011 race, more than 170 runners crossed the finish line in the half marathon and 5K combined, including just over 100 finishers in the half marathon alone.

The half marathon and the 5K run start at 8:00 AM and 8:15 AM, respectively, at the Meridian Winery on Highway 46, just to the east of Paso Robles's historic downtown. From there, the course winds its way through the vineyards surrounding Meridian Winery, where runners will also finish the race.

Race Weather & Climate

Located in the central part of the state, just over 200 miles south of San Francisco and roughly 215 miles north of Los Angeles, the city of Paso Robles typically experiences mild to cool and sometimes cold weather conditions in the mid-fall, and usually very dry weather in the summer and early fall.

In September, the city's average monthly temperatures range between 89°F and 51°F, while rainfall totals average just over a third of an inch for the month. On the day of the race (Sept. 16), the average high is 89°F and the average low is 51°F.
