Idaho > Idaho Falls Half Marathon
Idaho Falls, ID  •  Saturday, July 20, 2013  •  Course Map

From the western foothills of the Rocky Mountains just outside the city, runners follow a downhill course that loses some 1,300 feet of elevation between the starting line and the race finish line among the wide, green meadows and athletic fields in Tautphaus Park at the all-new Idaho Falls Half Marathon, which makes its second annual running in the summer of 2013.

Runners start the race several miles east of downtown Idaho Falls, which lies along the winding Snake River in Eastern Idaho, on Sunnyside Road at an elevation of about 6,000 feet above sea level. From there, the first half of the course unfolds along an all-downhill route for nearly the first six miles, dropping to just over 4,700 feet by the time runners reach the half-way point of the race, just east of the small town of Ammon.

After they pass through Ammon, the course flattens out and remains flat all the way in to the finish line at the park. Along the way, the course takes runners pass the city's Grand Teton Mall and Idaho Falls Community Park, before turning on Holmes Avenue and again on Hartert Drive to start the home stretch of the race into Tautphaus Park. Runners will make a loop around the park before entering just off North Park Drive, and will finish the race near park shelter no. 3.

Scheduled starting time for the race is 6:30 AM, and runners will be able to park near the race finish line area, where they will board shuttle buses that will take them to the starting line starting at 5:45 AM. At last year's inaugural race, 167 runners crossed the finish line.
