Indiana > Crazy Legs 13.1 Trail Half Marathon
Portage, IN • Sunday, September 22, 2013 • Course Map
Set for its inaugural running on the opening of fall in late September 2013, the Crazy Legs 13.1 Trail Half Marathon is the 6th in a series of nine "Crazy Legs"-themed running events to be staged this year around this part of northwest Indiana, and even includes a 10K race in May in Colorado.
September's Crazy Legs Trail Half Marathon is the longest distance of any of the nine events in the series -- they're mostly 5K, 10K and 5-mile races -- and takes runners on an out-and-back trail run through Imagination Glen Park, which lies between McCool Road and State Road 149 near Portage.
The race is set to start at the soccer field complex near the eastern side of the park -- scheduled starting time is 7:00 AM CT -- and part of the proceeds from the race will be donated to nearby Porter's Field Station Cooperative School, which provides elementary-school-age children with nature education programs to teach them about sustainability and respect for our natural environment.
Organizers note that because the course is made of dirt trails, the surface may be completely dry or muddy and wet, depending on the weather in the days leading up to the race.
