Set for its first-ever running in the early fall of 2011 in this small town that lies just a short drive from the nearby metropolis of Indianapolis, Danville's Run Greater Indianapolis Half Marathon is set to take runners on a tour of downtown Danville and its streets and neighborhoods just outside the town center.
The race also features a 5K as well as a one-mile Kids Fun Run, and the half marathon will be run on a USATF-certified 13.1-mile route. Though the course for the half marathon was still in the process of being designed as of this writing, the starting and finish line area is set to lie within walking distance of the designated parking area for the race, near 147 Main Street.
Runners will need to be at the starting line no later than 7:20 AM, race organizers say, as they will be sending runners off roughly 15 minutes apart -- the half marathon begins at 7:30 AM, followed by the 5K start at 7:45 AM. The kids fun run will start at 9:20 AM, after all the runners have left the starting line area and have made their way out onto the course.
