Maryland > Hidden Treasures Half Marathon & 5K
Salisbury, MD • Sunday, September 9, 2012 • Course Map
The city known as the "Crossroads of the Delmarva," which lies just inland from the Chesapeake Bay here on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Salisbury plays host in the late summer of 2012 to the third annual running of the Hidden Treasures Half Marathon & 5K, which will take runners on a route that unfolds both along the Wicomico River that flows through town as well as through several of the city's downtown neighborhoods.
Runners follow the course through this city that lies in the heart of the Delmarva Peninsula -- named for the region where the coastal areas of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia converge -- along an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Salisbury's Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Glen Avenue. From there, runners follow the route first along the river and through portions of Salisbury City Park, and then onto Riverside Drive, which is followed by stretches that bring the field through several of the city's historic districts.
The course then brings runners back through the city to the Youth & Civic Center, where all registered runners will be treated to post-race lunch. The 2011 race starting time was at 8:00 AM for those running the half marathon, followed by those running the 5K portion of the race at 8:30 AM. When details for 2012 are available, they will be posted here.
