Minnesota > Lace Up Against Breast Cancer Half Marathon & 5K
Rochester, MN • Sunday, February 9, 2014 • Course Map
Come out for a fast and mostly flat half marathon race that will help
raise money and awareness of the disease at the Lace Up Against Breast
Cancer Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk, which takes participants
through the streets of downtown Rochester and along the trails of two
of its most scenic city parks.
The race, which raises funds for
Rochester's local Donna Hicken Foundation and the Mayo Clinic, also
includes a 5K for runners and walkers. More than 400 runners crossed the finish line in the half marathon and 5K races combined in 2012.
The race is run entirely on paved surfaces and has only a few hills.
From the starting line at Bear Creek Park, runners follow an out-and-back course that runs north along the trail that runs alongside the Zumbro River up to Silver Lake Park, where runners make two loops around the lake before heading back south along the river to the second turnaround, this time in the park south of Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial.
Race Weather & Climate
Like pretty much everywhere in Minnesota, the city of Rochester is cooooold in the wintertime, as weather conditions warrant the region's name as the "nation's icebox." In February, precipitation amounts (usually snow or other frozen precipitation) can be quite heavy, with plenty of snow.
||Day of Race
||Rain: 0.75 in.
