Missouri > Warrensburg Half Marathon
Warrensburg, MO  •  Saturday, September 22, 2012  •  Course Map

Cancelled for 2012

Sponsored by the locally based financial advisers Murdock Banner Financial Group, the Warrensburg Half Marathon makes its annual run through the streets of this small city that lies just over an hour's drive east from Kansas City, along an out-and-back course that starts and finishes in the heart of the city's downtown near the Murdock Banner offices on South Holden Street.

From there, the race's USATF-certified course takes runners out on a combination of some challenging hills as well as plenty of flat stretches, through parts of town like the campus of the University of Central Missouri, a long out-and-back stretch along Division Road, and a stretch that takes runners past the beneficiary for the race, Blind Boone Park.

Once a segregated park for the local African-American community in Warrensburg, Blind Boone Park today has become a symbol of overcoming the past through the efforts of local volunteers who have renovated the grounds of the park in recent years and installed sculpture and historical markers to tell the story of the park and how the city has changed since the era of segregation. All proceeds from the race will go to support the park's expansion project.

The scheduled starting time for the race is 8:00 AM, and organizers plan to provide support on the course up until 11:00 AM. Just over 50 runners crossed the finish line at the race's 2010 running, so expect a relatively small sized field of runners on the morning of the race.

Race Weather & Climate

Located in central western Missouri, just over 60 miles southeast of Kansas City, Warrensburg typically sees September temperatures that average between 80°F and 55°F, while rainfall totals average just under 4.5 inches for the month, making September the city's third-wettest month of the year. On the day of the race (Sept. 22), the average high is 78°F and the average low is 52°F.
