Ohio > Hall of Fame City Challenge Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K
Canton, OH  •  Sunday, September 8, 2013  •  Course Map

What do comedian Jack Paar, singer Marilyn Manson and musician Boz Scaggs have in common? They all spent part of their childhoods growing up in Canton, Ohio, the home of the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame and the William C. McKinley Memorial and Presidential Library, where runners will trek through at the Hall of Fame City Challenge race as summer is giving way to fall.

The race is set to take runners on a point-to-point route through this northeastern Ohio city, starting in downtown Canton near the intersection of 3rd Street and Market Avenue. From there, the course makes an upside-down-U-shaped route through the city, past a number of local parks and with a finishing stretch along the West Branch of Nimishillen Creek, leading to the race finish line at McKinley Memorial Park.

Runners will experience the race's biggest hills in the second half of the half marathon, though the course is designed to be flatter and faster than the one used in previous years -- it's also USA Track & Field certified, and the full marathon course is a Boston Marathon Qualifier. The last mile of the half marathon route is all flat to the finish line.

The race pairs the half and the full marathon routes together for the first 13 miles, after which runners in the half split off for their finish while those running the 26.2-mile course continue on through the western part of the city for the second half of their race. Runners in both races get ample views of Malone University, the section of the city known as Avondale and West Park along the way.

Race Weather & Climate

Located in northeastern Ohio, about 60 miles south of Cleveland and roughly 90 miles west of Pittsburgh, Pa., Canton typically sees September temperatures that average between 53°F and 73°F, while rainfall totals average just over 3.4 inches for the month.

On the day of the race (Sept. 8), the average low is 56°F and the average high is 75°F.
