Cleburne, TX  •  Saturday, October 29, 2011

View the course map for the Bud E. Bee Boo Run Half Marathon

Set for its third annual running here along the streets of this small East Texas city that lies just south of Fort Worth, Cleburne's Bud E. Bee Boo! Run Half Marathon, 10K & 5K will once again take runners on a Halloween weekend run that starts and finishes at the city's Hulen Park, just south of Cleburne's downtown districts.

Designed to raise both funds for and awareness of the mission of the locally based Community Involvement Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in and around the local area, the race helps COI provide employment skills training, job placement services and social activities for people with disabilities.

Those running the half marathon -- which is basically a double loop of the 10K route -- start and finish their race at Hulen Park, which lies just a couple blocks west of Main Street (also Highway 171/174). From there, runners follow what is essentially a counter-clockwise loop out from the park and around the streets that extend southwest from the park, with long stretches along Westhill Drive, South Nolan River Road and Country Club Road, which brings runners back up toward the park for both the half-way point of the race and the finish line.

Runners will encounter one detour from the three main roads that make up the loop out from and back to the park, a brief stretch up Hyde Park Boulevard to Surry Place Drive, and then back again to Country Club Road. While there are plenty of small rolling uphills and downhills, overall the course elevation experiences only about 50 feet of elevation change over the course of the race's 13.1 miles, which are run on paved city streets the entire route.

Race Weather & Climate

Located in central East Texas, just under 30 miles south of Fort Worth and roughly 53 miles southwest of Dallas, the city of Cleburne typically experiences mild to moderately warm (and occasionally hot) weather conditions in the early fall season. In October, the city's average monthly temperatures range between 80°F and 55°F -- on the day of the race (Oct. 29), the average high is 75°F and the average low is 51°F -- while rainfall totals average just over 3.9 inches for the month, making October the city's second-wettest month of the year.
