Texas > CarreraThon Half Marathon, 10K & 5K
San Antonio, TX • Sunday, January 5, 2014 • Course Map
The first race of the year in a series of eight events hosted by the San Antonio-based running event organizer known as Carrera Races, the CarreraThon Half Marathon makes its inaugural running (with a 10K and a 5K) on the first weekend of the new year on an out-and-back route along the Salado Creek Greenway.
Runners are set to follow an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at the Wheatley Heights Sports Complex, a 170-acre athletic fields complex just off Interstate 10. From there, they'll head onto the Salado Creek Greenway, a paved trail that's part of the more than 40 miles that make up San Antonio's Howard Peak Greenway Trails System.
The race -- which benefits the local nonprofit Child Advocates of San Antonio -- unfolds from there along the greenway's fast, flat trails, along a path that surrounds runners with plentiful trees and runs parallel to the creek, which is filled by natural springs along the race route.
