Texas > Illuminations Half Marathon, Relay & 5K
San Antonio, TX • Saturday, December 7, 2013 • Course Map
What organizers say is San Antonio's first-ever nighttime half marathon is set to make its inaugural running on the first weekend of December 2013, when the Illuminations Half Marathon, Relay and St. Nick at Night 5K race take runners through the golf course at the J.W. Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa, along a course lit by high-tech luminary lights.
Runners will start the race just as the sun is going down at 5:00 PM, and from the starting line area the out-and-back course unfolds along the resort's TPC golf course, on the paved golf cart paths along each of the course's 18 holes. Runners will have 4 hours to complete the course, and hot chocolate as well as plenty of other refreshments will be waiting at the finish line post-race celebration, organizers add.
Because it takes place during the Christmas holiday season, the race will also be a place where runners can donate new or slightly used shoes (or make monetary donations), for gifts that will be distributed to those in need by the locally based Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
