Set for its inaugural running as summer is giving way to fall here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area -- though it will likely still feel like summer on the day of the race, as the average high in early September still reaches above 90 -- the Kennedale Classic Half Marathon will take runners on an out-and-back tour of this small city just south of Fort Worth.
Runners will start the race on Gillman Road near the Red Barn Health Club, located just off Interstate 20 in Kennedale. The half marathon course will be USATF-certified, organizers report, and there will also be a 5K Fun Run that shares the same starting and finish line near the health club, as well as a one-kilometer run for kids.
Parking will be available in a separate lot from the health club location; shuttle bus transportation from the parking lot area to the starting line will be provided on the day of the race. For more information, visit the race website shown below.

Located within the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area in northeastern Texas, about 10 miles southeast of downtown Fort Worth, Kennedale typically sees September temperatures that average between 88°F and 67°F, while rainfall totals average just over 2.4 inches for the month. On the day of the race (Sept. 3), the average high is 92°F and the average low is 71°F.
