Texas > No Limits Half Marathon & 5K
Fort Worth, TX  •  Saturday, October 27, 2012  •  Course Map

If you're a NASCAR or IndyCar racing fan, you won't want to pass up the chance to run with your own footsteps along the same track that will host the AAA Texas 500 the very next weekend, as Texas Motor Speedway just outside Fort Worth is set to host its inaugural No Limits Half Marathon & 5K around the track for a race that will benefit the local chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

Organized by the race management group that stages the Cowtown Marathon & Half Marathon every February, the race is set to follow a point-to-point course that starts and finishes inside the speedway's oval, and winds its way along the roads that lead into and out of the speedway throughout the race, with stretches that bring runners past the TMS dirt track, Speedway Lake and Pit Stop Park along the way.

Thanks to its location, the race features only minimal changes in elevation and will be run on paved surfaces throughout -- the course brings runners around the wide, apron portion of the oval in the early going, and features a final couple of miles that bring runners back into the speedway and along the roads that wind through the infield, before bringing runners back onto the track for the home stretch, where they'll cross the finish line in front of a real checkered flag waving them in.

The post-race awards and celebration will take place in Victory Lane, and there will also be a 5-kilometer race that will be run entirely within the speedway, with two laps around the mile-and-a-half-long oval.

Race Weather & Climate

Located in central northern Texas, about 35 miles west of downtown Dallas, Fort Worth typically sees October temperatures that average between 79°F and 55°F, while rainfall totals average just over 4.1 inches, making October the city's second-wettest month of the year. On the day of the race (Oct. 27), the average high is 75°F and the average low is 50°F.
