Washington > Auburn Adventist Academy Run2Educate Half Marathon, 10K, 5K
Auburn, WA  •  Sunday, September 28, 2014  •  Course Map

Runners follow a route that takes them through the countryside just outside Auburn, Wash. -- a city of just over 71,000 residents just south of Seattle and the onetime home of hip-hop star Sir Mix-a-Lot, of "Baby Got Back" fame -- at the Auburn Adventist Academy Run2Educate Half Marathon, which also features a 10K and 5K race open to both runners and walkers.

A few hundred runners and walkers cross the finish line each year in all three races combined -- including a few dozen finishers in the half marathon alone -- which makes for a small-size race field, but one that's also committed to the goal of helping improve the education for students at Auburn Adventist Academy, which is the host and organizer for the race.

The out-and-back course for the race starts and finishes near the church, just off Auburn Way South, on Maple Drive near the church school's auditorium and aquatic center. From there, runners head south and east into the area known as the Eunumclaw Plateau just outside Auburn, along which runners can expect some gently rolling hills but also a course that organizers say is a one that's flat and fast enough for recording personal record times.

Runners will have 3 hours to complete the half marathon before the course will close, and organizers note that the race is iPod-friendly, so you're welcome to bring along your music with you during the race. Strollers and dogs are also welcome at the event.
