Start your Halloween partying in style with the Salt Lake City Haunted Half Marathon & 5K, a point-to-point race where costumes are not only allowed, but encouraged. This race is the first in a series of three Haunted Half races (with the other two races taking place in Provo and Austin throughout the rest of the month).
The half marathon is almost entirely downhill, starting at the summit of Little Mountain (over 6700 feet above sea level) outside of Salt Lake City. From there, runners coast down the mountain for the first half of the race.
After reaching the bottom of the mountain, runners will briefly head uphill toward Emigration Canyon and then coast down the canyon, almost entirely down Emigration Canyon Road. Prepare for some spectacular views as you coast down the canyon, but be sure to take them in quickly because you’ll zoom down the canyon.
After coasting down the canyon, you’ll land at the finish line at Rotary Glen Park, right next to Salt Lake City’s Hogle Zoo. With bounce houses, donuts on a string, and a kids’ run at noon, there’s something for the whole family to do after the race.
