Utah Valley Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K

Saturday, June 1, 2024 • Provo, UT • Course Map

The green natural beauty of the Utah Valley, which has been the home over the centuries to Native Americans, Spanish explorers, rugged mountain men and even U.S. troops back in the mid-1800s, serves as the setting for the long, sloping downhill route at the Utah Valley Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K.

This nearly all-downhill race sees more than 2,000 runners — including two wheelchair competitors — cross the finish line in all three races combined each year, including roughly 1,000 finishers in the half marathon alone.

For runners in the half marathon, their race begins at the half-way point of the full marathon, on Provo Canyon Road in the Uinta National Forest, near Vivian Park. From there, those running the 13.1-mile race follow what is largely a long, sloping and mostly downhill route along the same road from the start to the finish line, in front of the historic Provo Tabernacle and the Provo courthouse.

Along the way, runners (the race is also open to wheelchair competitors, who are advised that the course can be difficult to maneuver in some areas) will get to see some of Utah’s most spectacular natural beauty, including the Utah mountains off in the distance, as well as the trees that line and shade the roads a little closer to the course.

The half marathon also features a maximum of 2,500 spots, so runners thinking of signing up for the race are encouraged to do so early. For runners who miss the regular registration period or wish to avoid waits at the packet pickup, the race also offers a VIP registration for the half marathon, which you can learn more about here.

Proceeds from the race go to benefit a pair of charities: Children with Cancer Christmas Foundation and CharityVision, which provides medical equipment and supplies to physicians working to restore sight to patients in the developing world.

Hey, I deferred my registration for my Daughter Lauren Gardner and myself, and I just want to make sure you all still have us registered to run the half this year. I have a new email address from the time I registered. Could you please send all emails to Lauriegardner64@gmail.com

    Thank you, Laurie
