More than 1,200 runners crossed the finish line in the individual half marathon, half marathon relay and 5K race at last year’s running of the Alexandria Running Festival Half Marathon & 5K, including just over 900 finishers in the half marathon alone.
The race takes runners through three local parks and along the waterways that feed into the Potomac River just a few miles to the east, along an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Alexandria’s Hoffman Town Center.
From there, runners head west along Eisenhower Avenue and pass by both Cameron Run Regional Park and Hensley Park on the way to Ben Brenman Park, where they’ll make two loops around the confines of the park before heading back to Eisenhower Avenue for the return route back to the start.
Scheduled starting time for the half marathon at 7:30 AM, followed by the 5K at 8:00 AM and the one-kilometer kids fun run at 7:45 AM. Runners will have 3 hours, 30 minutes to complete the half marathon.
