Thursday, October 15, 2020 – Tuesday, October 20, 2020 • Redmond, WA • Course Map
Set for its 3rd annual running just as summer is beginning, the Craft Classic Seattle Half Marathon combines what organizers say are two great loves of people who live here in the Seattle region — running and craft beer!
The out-and-back course for the race starts in Redmond’s Central Connector Park, just west of the city and just north of the much-larger Marymoor Park, along Bear Creek Parkway.
From there, runners will head south along Heron Rookery Trail to Leary Way, and then around the Bear Creek Trail until they meet up with Dudley Carter Park, where they’ll head onto the Sammamish River Trail, which stretches nearly 11 miles through riverside parklands and farms.
Once you’re on the Sammamish River Trail, you’ll spend the next 5 1/2 miles or so making your way north along the river, along its wide asphalt surface. (If you took the trail all the way to its terminus, you’d end up in Bothell’s Blyth Park, where you can continue on along the Burke-Gilman Trail.)
You’ll pass by golf courses and wide-open fields as well as some vineyards and wineries like Chateau St. Michelle Winery on your way to the race turnaround point between the 6th and 7th mile markers, just southeast of Woodin Creek Park.
Once you make the turn, you’ll retrace your steps along the route you’ve just run, all the way down to York Road. There, you’ll turn off the trail and head across the bridge over the Sammamish River to the other side, where you’ll continue heading south.
Organizers say it’ll be a great day for enjoying a run along the river with plenty of beer at the finish line: “Race giveaways for all participants include a commemorative event shirt and beer glass, special finisher’s medal, a voucher for a free beer from Iron Horse Brewery.”
For 2020, there’s also a virtual option available for runners who can’t make it to Seattle or who feel uncomfortable committing to an in-person race. You’ll run the race on the course of your choice between October 16 and October 19.
