Eau Claire Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay & 5K

Sunday, May 3, 2020 • Eau Claire, WI • Course Map

Run on a course that takes participants along the streets and among the lakes, parks and riverbanks of this city in Wisconsin’s Chippewa River valley, the Eau Claire Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K features a loop course through the city that features eight bridge crossings for the half marathon.

The half marathon begins on the Madison Street Bridge, where runners can look north and south to the breathtaking views of the Chippewa River while waiting for the race to start.

From there, runners head south through Eau Claire and weave their way through the streets of the Randall Park neighborhood, known for its Carson Park, where home run king Hank Aaron played before going pro. The course continues north along the Chippewa River State Trail before the first true bridge crossing of the course and then continues north along Forest Street for about a mile before crossing over the river again.

Once over the river, runners then follow the course as the circular loop heads southward, along Riverview Drive, Redwood Drive and Western Avenue all the way south down to Galloway Street, where runners then follow the course as it winds along the clearer Eau Claire River.

After they make their way around Putnam, the course features two more bridge crossings at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire campus and later along Lake Street, after which runners head east along the riverbanks back toward the finish line near Madison Street Bridge.

Runners follow paved surfaces throughout the race, as the course takes them across paved park trails and city streets for virtually the entire 13.1 miles of the race.
