Looking for a late fall half marathon to round out your racing season? Midwesterners can look forward to the Madison Marathon & Half Marathon, which takes place in mid-November each year. Formerly known as the Mad City Marathon, the Madison Marathon & Half Marathon has existed in its current form since 1994 and takes runners on a tour of Wisconsin’s capital on the weekend of Veterans’ Day.

Starting and finishing at the Wisconsin State Capitol, the half marathon course leads runners on a modified loop course of Madison that will challenge runners of all levels. The course begins by heading northeast of the capitol along East Corham Street and past Tenney Park before heading north toward Warner Park.

After reaching Warner Park and the race’s halfway point, runners turn around and return to the finish line via a different route, this one offering waterfront views of Lake Mendota during several segments. Be sure to stay for the after-party–and ring the PR bell if you set a personal record in this race!
