Jackson Hole Half Marathon & 5K

Saturday, June 10, 2023 • Jackson, WY • Course Map

The brilliant blue skies over the majestic peaks of the Grand Teton mountains in the distance will be runners’ constant companion at the running of the Jackson Hole Half Marathon, scheduled for an early summer running in this beautiful mountain city just south of both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

Runners start the race in Teton Village, which lies just south of the national park, and follow the bicycle trail that runs alongside Highway 390 as it makes its way southward along a long straightaway stretch toward Moose Village Road, where runners then turn right and head along Teton Village Road into Teton Pines.

Throughout the early miles of the race, the course follows a long, steady descent from about 6,300 feet above sea level at the starting line to about 6,200 feet at the mid-way point of the race, with several rolling hills along the way.

At the intersection of Highways 390 and 22, runners cross over Highway 22 and continue on the road’s shoulder as it makes its way past Skyline Ranch, over the river and past Emily Stevens Park, which lies just outside Jackson.

Around the mile 9 marker, the course has one last big uphill stretch, as runners make their way through the more mountainous terrain just west of Jackson, and then downhill again on the way through miles 10 and 11, along twists and turns to the crossing at Highway 89 (which is also Highway 191).

From there, runners meet up with the Russ Garaman Trail, part of the trail system that routes around and through Jackson, and then turn right onto Maple Way.

The last mile or so of the race takes runners along Maple and then along Snow King Avenue, for the finish at Jackson’s Phil Baux Park. The park is also where runners will meet and board buses that will take them to the starting line.

I have never ran a half marathon, but I run about 4-5 miles everyday. I would like to try this!
