In 2016, Michael set a personal goal to train for and run a marathon within 30 days. While that ended up not being the best idea for his knees, it embarked him on a lifelong journey of running. He’s since run the New York City Marathon, Hamptons Marathon and Half, and dozens of others. His favorite running shoes of all time are the Nike Invincible 2s.

Matthew Huff is the Associate Entertainment Editor at Parade and avid runner. He ran his first half marathon in 2014 and started writing about running in 2019. Previously, he worked as Staff Writer/Editor at BuzzFeed where he covered film and television. His writing has also appeared in The A.V. Club, The Digital Party, and Runner’s World among others. He is the author of “Marathoner: What to Expect When Training for and Running a Marathon,” and co-host of the podcast P.S. You’re Wrong. He’s also a member of GALECA and the Critics Choice Association. Prior to becoming an entertainment journalist, he worked for five years in book publishing. He currently lives in New York City. Ali Nolan is the author of “Master the Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide for Women” which offers a holistic approach to training for long distances. She is a 4-time marathoner and, a dozen-time half marathoner who is passionate about fitness and movement at all speeds and in every form. In addition to running, she loves hiking with her humungous dog, practicing yoga, spending hours on the tennis court, and recovering on the couch with her cats. She formerly worked at Runner’s World and you can find her byline there and at Active, Bicycling, Self, Well and Good, and Women’s Health. Ali’s been running for more than 20 years. She coached track and cross country for students in elementary school up to high school.

Becky Wade Firth is a marathon runner, high school coach, mom of 2, and the author of Run the World: My 3,500-Mile Journey Through Running Cultures Around the GlobeShe has participated in 4 U.S. Olympic Trials (3,000m steeplechase x 2, marathon x 2) and qualified for Team USA 3 times (3,000m steeplechase as a junior, half marathon x 2 as a senior). While not running or coaching, she’s likely to be writing about the sport; in addition to Half Marathon Guide, her work appears in Outside Magazine, Runner’s World, REI Co-Op, Greatist, and Mashable, among other publications.

Brady is an endurance runner and a former division I cross country and track athlete. He has a Master’s degree in Human Performance and is a full-time science writer and researcher. He has written for publications including GQ and publishes his own writing on Substack. He placed 5th at the 2024 Cincinnati Flying Pig marathon in a Boston Qualifying time of 2:37:00. He also placed 81st at the 2024 Houston Half Marathon in a time of 1:09:36.
