In 2016, Michael set a personal goal to train for and run a marathon within 30 days. While that ended up not being the best idea for his knees, it embarked him on a lifelong journey of running. He’s since run the New York City Marathon, Hamptons Marathon and Half, and dozens of others. His favorite running shoes of all time are the Nike Invincible 2s.

Ali Nolan is the author of “Master the Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide for Women” which offers a holistic approach to training for long distances. She is a 4-time marathoner and, a dozen-time half marathoner who is passionate about fitness and movement at all speeds and in every form. In addition to running, she loves hiking with her humungous dog, practicing yoga, spending hours on the tennis court, and recovering on the couch with her cats. She coached track and cross country for students in elementary school up to high school.
Becky Wade Firth is a marathon runner, high school coach, mom of 2, and the author of Run the World: My 3,500-Mile Journey Through Running Cultures Around the Globe. She has participated in 4 U.S. Olympic Trials (3,000m steeplechase x 2, marathon x 2) and qualified for Team USA 3 times (3,000m steeplechase as a junior, half marathon x 2 as a senior). While not running or coaching, she’s likely to be writing about the sport; in addition to Half Marathon Guide, her work appears in Outside Magazine, Runner’s World, REI Co-Op, Greatist, and Mashable, among other publications.
Malissa Rodenburg is an independent science and adventure journalist based in Seattle, Washington. Her work has appeared in Outside, 5280, Science, and Men’s Journal, among others.
