Sunday, September 1, 2024 • Crystal Lake, IL • Course Map
Hosted by the Crystal Lakes Park District and CARA (the Chicago Area Runners Association), the Crystal Lake Half Marathon takes runners on a tour of this small town in northern Illinois, past the 230-acre lake from which the town gets its name and through the alternately rolling and flat terrain of many of its suburban neighborhoods.
The race features a USA Track and Field-certified course, and awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each age division.
The point-to-point course for the race — which unfolds along a course made up entirely of paved surfaces — starts near the eastern end of the lake that gives the race its name, at Lake Park near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Lake Shore Drive.
From there, you’ll make a clockwise loop around the lake, and then head south, with stretches past Crystal Lake Country Club, Crystal Lake South High School, South Lake and the Three Oaks Recreation Area, and Crystal Lake Central High School, before heading in to the finish line on North Williams Street.
