Sunday, November 4, 2018 • Chico, CA • Course Map

Part of the Chico Running Club’s annual Almond Bowl series of races, this early November race features a long, gradual climb through the city’s Lower and Upper Bidwell Parks, followed by a fast downhill finish into the finish line at the park’s Sycamore Field.

Runners will begin in Lower Bidwell Park in the heart of Chico, a city that’s home to more than 86,000 people here in Northern California’s Sacramento Valley. From there, they’ll follow both South Park Drive and Petersen Memorial Highway, following roughly the same route as Big Chico Creek through the park.

The course continues along the green path to the levee where runners will turn left and continue until reaching Wildwood Road. After making a right, runners will stay on the road as it turns into Upper Park Road and climbs up to Day Camp.

This stretch of the race will take runners to nearly 350 feet in elevation as they ascend to the turnaround point. Once past Horseshoe Lake, runners can begin to look for the spot where they will make a u-turn and begin their descent to the finish.

The course will continue back down Upper Park Road and Wildwood Avenue, but runners will take an alternate route once they cross under Manzanita Avenue. The course will make a right turn at the pedestrian bridge and then runners will make a right onto North Park Drive. Once runners make their way to Vallombrosa Way, they will then follow the course behind the CARD building and make a kick to the finish on Mangrove.

All finishers will receive a custom Almond Bowl medal. The top male and female overall winners will be given awards as well as the top 3 in each age category.
