Overview

Beam up your running crew for an interstellar experience at Sam Houston Trail Park, Irving. Hosted by the Irving Marathon Running Series, Area 51 offers themed races in the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and a Kid’s Dash—all cloaked in sci-fi flair and community energy.

Event History & Format
This annual sci-fi-inspired race blends alien-themed swag with family-friendly competition. The inaugural (or early-year) event is backed by the local running series, blending accessible pricing, themed shirts, and finishers’ medals. Top overall and masters winners in each distance receive event-themed trophies.

Unique Features
This event stands out with its creative theme: every finisher earns a themed shirt and medal, fast runners can earn bonus gala medals, and age-group awards are handed out 3-deep for nine age brackets in each distance. Overall and masters winners secure collectible trophies—no aliens required.

Whether you’re a sci-fi fan or simply in for a quirky community run, Area 51 delivers a fun, well-produced morning with small-town feel and local flair.
