Entering its 55th year running (pun intended), the Arkansas Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k is among the oldest and most unique running events in the South, located approximately 20 miles from the Oklahoma state border.

Scenic Views, Destination Race, Large Crowds. Offering views on Mount Magazine, one of the tallest mountains in the US, this race, located in between Ozark National Park and Quachita National Forest, is often atop runners’ bucket lists as a destination race for more reasons than one.

Because of its unique course location within South Logan County, don’t be surprised if you find yourself sharing the road with any number of wildlife, from deer and rabbit to turkeys and squirrels!

An open, out-and-back course, the Arkansas Half Marathon begins and ends on N Broadway Avenue near W 1st Street. At mile 1.5, runners will be welcomed by their first aid station and porta-potty pitstop. Other aid station/porta-potty pitstops can be expected at miles 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6.25, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, and 11.5. Once runners reach mile 6.5 at Longridge Church, all half marathon participants will turn around and head back the way they came toward the finish line. With average temperatures sitting at 70°F, you can expect a moderate and comfortable race day! Amongst the largest of half marathons in the state, the Arkansas half marathon event expects a finisher range between 1000-5000 runners! With the race kicking off at 7:00 a.m., you’ll want to arrive extra early to beat the crowds. Finally, for those running with a support team, family, friends, or otherwise, there’s an October Daze Fall Festival ongoing that they can enjoy while you are out logging miles! Once you cross the finish line, you’re more than encouraged to join in on the fun!
