Overview

Otherwise known as the Year of the Marine, the Armed Forces Half Marathon event is an important and exciting half-marathon race put off by Team Blue Sky Events, in operation since 2008.

Challenging Course. With nearly 3100 feet of elevation gain, the Armed Forces Half Marathon race runs just over 13.5 miles and takes runners through several peaks and valleys throughout Contra Costa County, including but not limited to landmarks like Briones Peak and Motts Peak.

As for the location, Contra Costa County, centralized in the East Bay of San Francisco Bay, is primarily known for its mountainous landscapes, particularly as it relates to the famed Mount Diablo.

Course Description
This event has a 500-participant cap and a 5-hour 30-minute cut-off time, running from 6:30 a.m. to noon, making for an approachable challenge for all fitness levels; that is if you can handle the elevation gain. Awarding plaques for top male and female finishers, this event also provides finisher medals for all those who cross the finish line under the cut-off time. In addition, there will be age group awards. Finally, all participants receive a commemorative race day shirt, a race bib, a pair of running socks, and a parking pass.
