Sunday, April 2, 2023 • Pescadero, CA
In keeping with the event’s title — and the pride of the local agriculture industry — every finisher is presented with a real artichoke at Pescadero’s Artichoke Half Marathon & 10K, which takes runners on a tour of this town just off the gorgeous windswept Pacific coastline in Northern California, just down the road from Half Moon Bay and a couple hours’ drive from the nearby San Francisco Bay Area.
Run along a course that’s fast and flat, the race usually enjoys mild, sunny weather thanks to its spring slot in the region’s road race schedule.
Runners start the out-and-back course for the race at Duarte’s Taven, which lies at the intersection of Pescadero Creek Road and Stage Road, just a few minutes’ drive from the coastline and the Pescadero State Beach area.
Though most of the course takes runners along paved country roads with a number of rolling hills, the scenic race course through the beach and coastal areas also includes three miles of trails, for runners who enjoy more of a challenging, off-road run.
