Overview

Set under a crisp autumn sky in October, the Trails by Moonlight: Harvest Moon Half Marathon invites trail runners to experience nocturnal miles by Lake Travis. Held at Arkansas Bend Park (16900 Cherry Ln, Leander, TX), this enchanting event balances scenic fall vistas with nighttime trail adventure.

Runners join a twilight kickoff at 9:00 AM CDT (transitioning into moonlit trails toward evening) on October 4 for a half marathon option alongside marathon, 10K, 5K, and a 12-hour endurance race. Reflective trail markers and glow sticks light the rolling single-track and wider trail sections as temperatures cool and fall foliage deepens.

What sets this race apart is its seasonal atmosphere—run beneath a golden canopy and as dusk falls, let your headlamp guide you toward Lake Travis views. Aid stations remain stocked well into the night, and finishers earn a custom themed medal or collector’s challenge coin that connects to a series of Fit Foundation events.

Beyond finish times, Trails by Moonlight celebrates trail running’s magic at dusk—dusting hills in copper hues and stars overhead. Whether you tackle the full half marathon or choose the timed endurance challenge, you’re in for an unforgettable evening in the Texas Hill Country.
