Note: The 2020 race is on hiatus.
Designed to raise both funds and awareness of the mission of Florida’s Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition, the Beachside Half Marathon for a Healthy Start takes runners on an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Riverside Park in Vero Beach, and features run for kids/toddler dash in addition to the 13.1-mile race.
Thanks to its location along Florida’s coastline, the course is largely fast and pancake-flat throughout, and takes runners along the city streets and neighborhoods of the Riomar community across the Indian River from Vero Beach.
Many stretches of the course include views of the water, both of the river on one side and the ocean on the other, and runners will finish the event back at Riverside Park. Runners will have four hours to complete the half marathon, followed by the 5K and the kids run.
Race Weather & Climate
Located about mid-way down Florida’s Atlantic coast in the central part of the state, just over 100 miles southeast from Orlando, the city of Vero Beach typically experiences cool to mild weather conditions in the winter season, with generally drier weather than the summer months.
On race day (Jan. 5), the average low is 53ºF and the average high is 74ºF.
