Overview

Join the 8th Annual Blobfest running event in conjunction with Phoenixville’s iconic Blobfest on Sunday, July 13, 2025. Hosted by RUNegades to benefit the Historic Colonial Theatre, the event introduces a half marathon to its lineup of the festive 5K, 10K, and kids’ fun run—invoking horror-movie nostalgia with community spirit.(

The half marathon kicks off at 7:00 AM EDT, starting and ending in front of the Colonial Theatre under the Gay Street Bridge. The route weaves through small-town Phoenixville streets, riverfront trails, and classic local hills—most notably Cromby Hill, a challenging climb familiar to regional runners. Aid stations are spaced approximately every 2–3 miles, with encouragement for runners to bring personal hydration as it’s technically a cupless event.

What makes this race singular is its blend of community, costume, and classic horror themes: runners and spectators participate in a course-decorating contest, best-dressed awards, and special Blob-themed medals. Post-race, bib holders earn a 10% discount at Steel City Coffeehouse, and the festive backdrop includes the Blobfest street fair, costume parade, and movie reenactments. A strict 3:30 cutoff ensures pacing safety in July heat.

Expect a quirky, inclusive half marathon experience: certified yet fun, community-powered, and bathed in small-town charm—and all while celebrating a cult-classic movie in real time.

🌟 Why You’ll Love It

The Blobfest Half Marathon stands apart as part road race, part summer block party, and part movie tribute. With its festival backdrop, hill-climbing character, and small-town hospitality, this half marathon is as much performance as it is playful. Runners love the themed medals, costume culture, and cozy yet energetic vibe. Interested in parking logistics, pacing Cromby Hill, or costuming ideas? I’d be happy to help make your Blobfest miles memorable!
