Set for Saturday, May 31, 2025, the Bonneville Half Marathon offers a scenic trail experience along the eastern edge of Utah’s Wasatch Front. Organized by Happy Trails Running, this boutique half marathon circuit is part of their Corner Canyon Trail Series and has quickly earned praise for its intimate vibe and beautiful terrain.
🕰️ Event History & Format
While former in-person races in Utah’s Draper/Sandy area were previously canceled due to city permitting changes, the 2025 edition is now offered via Happy Trails Running’s GPS-enabled group-run format. Participants log their time virtually using RideWithGPS, but onsite group runs are also organized—such as the featured Bonneville run on May 31 at 6:00 AM MT.
🌄 Course & Runner Experience
Largely on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, the out-and-back course begins beneath the iconic Bear Canyon Suspension Bridge, then enters the scenic network of Corner Canyon, including dense foliage, bluff overlooks, and rugged single-track. The total elevation gain approximates +1,648 ft over 13.1 miles, with around 86% single track, 8% dirt road, and 6% paved trail.
🎯 What Sets It Apart
Boasting no cutoff time and a cap of ~150 runners per event, this half marathon prioritizes accessibility, small-group community, and stunning outdoor scenery. Swag includes custom, locally made finisher medals and race shirts; post-race awards feature age-group recognition and a relaxed virtual or in-person celebration depending on location.
