Celebrating 16 years in the running (no pun intended), the Coastal Half Marathon, 5K, and 1 Mile Fun Run takes place just two days after Thanksgiving Day, making for a great return to fitness and competition after that hefty turkey dinner that may have added a couple of pounds to the hips! With a perfect mixture of winding backcountry roads, paved running trails surrounded by forest, and beautiful beachfront boulevards paired with gulf shore scenery, this race allows participants to take in a variety of breathtaking views and natural landscapes that will make them feel like they’re running on cruise control. Even better, this course is largely flat and fast throughout, making for a double-whammy of fun and high performance; a great day for the entire family to enjoy.

Beginning at the Orange Beach Sportsplex on Williams Silver Parkway, the course sends runners on the backcountry road of Gulf Oak Ridge, a straight-and-narrow trail that proceeds for about 3 miles. Upon reaching the first aid station, runners will then take a hard looping right onto State Park Road 2 as they run toward Beachfront Blvd. For those who love running on beaches, you’ve now got your opportunity from miles 5 to 6! Turning left onto Rosemary Dunes Trail, runners re-enter the backcountry roads of beautiful Orange Beach, Alabama, where they enjoy a long stretch of forest until reaching Highway 161 at mile 10. Remember to run against traffic and remain on the sidewalk for the duration of this section. Finally, exiting Highway 161, runners will steer left onto Rattlesnake Ridge Trail before hanging a right onto Twin Bridges Trail where they’ll gracefully run across the finish line. Throughout the course, participants can rest assured that aid and hydration stations will be present in six (6) locations total, approximately every 2-3 miles comprising water and Powerade. Note that the race is open to people ages 15+, with a welcomed seafood bar and grill near the finish line once completed for those of legal drinking age. Apart from food and beverage on your own tab, every finisher can expect to receive a race logo finisher prize; the race typically experiences more than 450 finishers each year.
