Overview

Runners will gather at Travis County Southeast Metro Park (Del Valle, TX 78617) for Bigfoot Running Company’s Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Texas Parks Edition—a vibrant homage to culture, community, and movement.

Celebrating Día de los Muertos with flair, the event invites participants to don costumes, craftively paint faces, and walk—or run—a race that intertwines remembrance and festivity. The half marathon shares its 8:00 AM CDT start with shorter distances including the Quarter Marathon (6.55 mi), 5K, 1‑Mile, Youth Dash, and Virtual Run. Every runner is encouraged to register as part of the Holiday Bundle for discounts across Bigfoot’s Fall series.

The course features gently rolling, mixed-surface park trails along lush creek corridors, open meadows, and shaded tree lines—ideal for pace-focused runners and costumed racers alike. Aid stations provide support and hydration along the route, and volunteers lead the race with energetic announcements and live DJ music at the finish rally.

What distinguishes this event is its seamless blend of cultural homage and high-quality race production. Highlights include a pre-race costume contest, Bigfoot trophies to top performers, age-group awards, vibrant finisher medals, branded tees, and post-race refreshments with Mexican treats under a festive canopy design. Whether chasing a personal best or enjoying community color, participants leave with memories, medals, and a sense of shared celebration.
