Step into Texas fall tradition at Brazos River Park in Sugar Land, as Bigfoot Running Company presents the Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Texas Parks Edition, a colorful celebration of memory, culture, and community.
As part of Bigfoot’s multi-city Dia de los Muertos series, this race blends athleticism with Mexican heritage. From a lively costume contest to marigold‑themed decor and skull-painted faces, participants bring tradition to the start line—many running dressed in elaborate costumes and sugar skull makeup.
Course & Runner Experience
The main races begin at 8:00 AM CDT, preceded by the Kids Dash at 7:55 AM. The flat, paved course winds through Brazos River Park loops shaded by large trees, with lakeside views and creek corridors lining the route. Aid stations appear regularly, and volunteers, DJ music, and a festive finish‑line rally tent support the energy throughout.
What Makes It Unique
This event offers more than a race—it’s a cultural tribute wrapped in elite-level production. Every finisher receives a branded tee and medal, with Bigfoot trophies awarded to top male and female overall finishers, plus award pins for masters and multiple age groups. Live awards are delivered immediately post-finish at the registration tent for added excitement.
