Overview

Experience a vibrant tribute to memory and culture at the Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Texas Parks Edition, hosted by Bigfoot Running Company at Eisenhower Park (19399 NW Military Hwy).

This event is part of Bigfoot’s multi-city Day of the Dead series and celebrates tradition with festive flair. Costume contests, marigold décor, and finisher photo displays bring the spirit of Día de los Muertos to life in the scenic greenpark environment.

Starting at 8:00 AM CDT, runners can choose from distances including Half Marathon (13.1 mi), 15K (9.3 mi), Quarter Marathon (6.55 mi), 5K, 1-Mile, and a Kid’s Dash. Each begins at the same start window and must finish by 11:00 AM CDT, combining racing with celebration.

The tree‑lined, paved course offers peaceful creek and lake views—a tranquil canvas for runners, joggers, and festive finishers dressed in traditional costume. Aid stations are strategically placed and volunteers lead live awards under tents decorated with marigolds and Día de los Muertos motifs.

What makes this event unique is its fusion of athletic endurance, cultural homage, and community energy—all with Bigfoot-level production quality. Overall and age-group winners earn Bigfoot trophies, and periodic costume contest winners take home special prizes. The post-race rally includes music, Mexican-style snacks, and vibrant storytelling.
