Overview

Back in action for the first time in several years, the Fargo Mini Marathon returns as part of a weekend-long celebration featuring a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and Friday night “Lap Trick or Trot” 5K with the “Red River Double” option for an added challenge and savings. The half marathon unfolds on a flat, fast two‑state route along the scenic Red River Trail System, beginning downtown and crossing the bridge into Moorhead, MN before looping through neighborhood parks and riverside greenways. It returns south along the same path before a distinct finish in Fargo’s Civic Center, offering ideal conditions for personal bests and Boston qualifying efforts.

This event is community-driven and charitable: it supports the Mark Knutson Shoes for Kids Legacy Fund, channeling a portion of registration fees to provide athletic footwear to children in need across the Fargo‑Moorhead area.

Expect aid stations at strategic locations, fresh course markers, and enthusiastic support from local volunteers and spectators lining the greenway bridges and parks. Swag includes a long-sleeve tech shirt, finisher medal, and scenic course views alongside multi‑distance weekend camaraderie.

The Red River Double option encourages runners to pair a Friday evening 5K with the Saturday half marathon at a discount—a great twist for both competitive runners and social participants. With a return to form in 2025, this mid‑October race combines Midwest charm, multi-race flexibility, and meaningful community impact.
