Prepare for an exhilarating trail-running experience at the Firebird Trail Race, a dynamic event offering distances of 13 miles, 50 kilometers, and, new this year, 50 miles. Taking place in Falmouth, Maine, this race stands out not just for its challenging course and positive atmosphere but for its unique approach to giving back.

Embrace the spirit of community and accomplishment as runners unite to conquer the rugged terrain of Lowell Preserve and North Falmouth Community Forest. Unlike traditional races, participation here involves both a modest registration fee and a donation to a non-profit of your choosing. Between September 4, 2022, and August 25, 2023, make a minimum $20 donation and provide proof of it by the latter date to secure your entry. In 2022, participants collectively donated over $7,000, reflecting the race’s commitment to making a positive impact.

The course, a 10-mile loop through challenging terrains with rocks and roots on single-track trails, promises an adventure for all skill levels. The 13-mile course includes one loop plus an additional 5K loop in Lowell. For those aiming higher, the 50K involves three loops, while the ultimate challenge, the 50-mile course, features five loops. All events kick off and culminate at Lowell Preserve, located at the Windham Fire Station. Navigation is made easy with well-marked trails adorned with pink or orange pin flags, directional signs, and arrows. The course’s meticulous markings, including “LEFT,” “RIGHT,” and “WRONG WAY” signs, ensure participants stay on track. Join the Firebird Trail Race for an unparalleled trail-running experience, where the thrill of the course is matched by the joy of supporting meaningful causes.
