Saturday, March 21, 2015 • Bainbridge, GA • Course Map
Set for its 3rd annual running through this small, picturesque city along the Flint River in the southwestern corner of Georgia, just miles from the Florida border, the Bainbridge Half Marathon & Relay will take runners both through downtown and along tree-lined residential streets with many historic homes as well as along stretches along the river.
The race follows an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Bainbridge’s Memorial Hospital, located at 1500 East Shotwell Street.
From there, runners will follow what is roughly a counter-clockwise loop route through the city, first along East Shotwell toward downtown and then along the river, followed by a long stretch through the neighborhoods just south of downtown, where runners will find beautiful old homes along the route.
Runners next keep heading south through the city toward Pineland Drive Park, Lake Douglas and the Twin Lakes, which lie to the southeast of the city.
Once they make their way along the winding roads that snake between the lakes, they’ll head around the campus of Bainbridge College and then back out to East Shotwell Street, where they’ll run west back toward the hospital and in to the race finish line.
The USATF-certified course will be open for 4 hours, organizers note, to allow both runners and walkers to participate in the race. The scheduled starting time for the half marathon is 7:00 AM.
