Start your celebration early and get ready to run in the cold in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day weekend at the Get Lucky Twin Cities Half Marathon (or Triple 7K), 14K & 7K, taking place in downtown St. Paul on the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day.

The half marathon begins in downtown St. Paul at the Union Depot, and from there the entire course leads runners along the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area (MNRRA) on Shepard Road. The course, which is fully paved, provides views of the Mississippi River, especially along the beginning of the course.

The finish line features live Irish music and a free beer and slice of pizza. But the party doesn’t end there — several nearby pubs are continuing the party and providing a free glass of Finnegan’s for runners.

As the race takes place in St. Paul during winter, runners are advised to dress warmly and ready for any type of weather.

Race Weather & Climate

Like its neighboring twin city just a few miles west, St. Paul experiences cold winters and plenty of snow, with almost 10 inches of snow on average for the month of March.

On race day (Mar. 11), the average low is 22ºF and the average high is 39ºF.
