Saturday, September 9, 2017 • Sauk Rapids, MN • Course Map

Set for its 7th annual running in this central Minnesota city that lies near the confluence of the Sauk and the Mississippi Rivers — it’s located next to a set of rapids near where the rivers meet, which gave the city its name — the Graniteman Half Marathon features an out-and-back route that’s run almost entirely along the Mississippi River.

From the starting line at Sauk Rapids Municipal Park, which lies on an island in the river, runners first head out onto River Avenue North, which they’ll follow all the way up to the first turnaround point at Garden Avenue.

Once they make the turn, they’ll head back south along the roads and trails that wind along the river, heading through Lions Park, Wilson Park and Riverside Park, and from Sauk Rapids all the way into nearby St. Cloud.

You’ll pass through Munsinger Gardens and Talahi Park near the second turnaround point, which unfolds with a clockwise loop around Minnesota Boulevard, 15th Avenue Southeast and 9th Avenue before rejoining Minnesota Boulevard, where you’ll start the return trek north along the roads and trails you’ve just run, all the way back to Sauk Rapids for the race finish.

There’s also a 1K fun run for kids on the same day as the half marathon, 10K and 5K races, which runs entirely within Sauk Rapids Municipal Park.

Runners will have a time limit of 3 1/2 hours to complete the half marathon.
