Embark on the ultimate trail race experience at the HOOT, where the elusive and fiercely predatory owls have haunted Rocks and Roots trail runners since time began. Delve into the mystique of owls, creatures associated with superstitions ranging from good luck to witchcraft, as you tackle the challenging terrain of Rocks and Roots Trail at Alum Creek State Park. Summer offers optimal trail conditions, yet the rocks, roots, and the summer heat present unique challenges, featuring our shortest distances and the only half marathon hosted on this trail.
Save the date for Sunday, August 4th, when all races, including the 10K and Half Marathon Trail Race, kick off at 8 am. The race site is conveniently located just off Hollenback Rd, south of the dog park at 3993 Hollenback Rd, Lewis Center, OH 43035. Register early to secure your spot, as races typically sell out 2-6 weeks before race day. Pricing varies from $45 through April 31st to $70 from August 1st to Race Day.
What do you get? An epic trail race experience, an event shirt, and a coveted event medal. Don’t miss packet pickup at Fleet Feet Sports in Lewis Center from August 2nd to August 3rd during normal business hours. Race day packet pickup starts at 7 am at the race site.
The course, subject to change, offers a unique layout. The North Loop, run first in a clockwise direction for the initial 10K, is followed by the South Loop in a counter-clockwise direction for the second 10K. Finally, an additional 0.7ish mile loop completes the Half Marathon.
